Nature's Call

Not THaT nature's call :)
It's the call of the green..i think.
I have always loved going out and explore (though not to the extreme)..where the green is.
..especially where there's a river..waterfall, island..any of nature's treasure.
I was lucky enough that last weekend health allowed me to go to a few places together with my colleagues..to search for the camp site of our college this coming month.
Yes. We make it a great deal..since we need a place that can put up with the attitudes of 200+ youngsters.
ooo...it's going to be THE CAMP this March.
And im as excited as the students.
Hmm..tapi.. tingu la.. apa sja yg sa dpt buat.
kali..p lawat2 dorang ja..uhuhuhu...nda dpt join smua aktiviti sda. Kasian.

Ok, what did we found?
THiS.
cantik leh..
Just look at the happy faces..and one excited boy going straight to the river banks.
It's  pure magnet.

Hubby was there to accompany me..and ended up being the MAP that day. hehe..sebab dia tau bnyk jalan kunun. hmm...sa rasa dorang cari ikan karuk dorang yg telepas tu..hehe
I just love the green reflection of the water.

Hehe..not going o disclose the name of the place yet.. and perhaps..some of you know this place by now.
tapi kn.. adadahhhh..cantik nya...
Muat2 utk ramai org..and ada sungai yg cukup luas utk buat macam2 aktiviti.

This young boy..(a colleague's nephew) was also excited. Dia mau ikut kunun itu camping nanti.
3 Days 2 Nites. Can you handle it boy..hehe

and..this is me. hehe
masih slim bah.. haha
entah la.. but doctor said im underweight..low red blood cells..and everything.
I'm trying my best to improve.

Meanwhile..

This is what i ate today. Lunch.
Not sure whether its the best choice..but its one yummy and freeee..lunch today.
As an invited guest to the students' food presentation activity..we were given the honor to taste the food and evaluate their oral presentation.
Tuna mayoinnase sandwhich, chicken nugget, fried rice, boiled sambal egg, chicken curry, popiah, pasta,and...
a big rich chocolate creammy cake made by a boy-rock student. can't believe it.
The taste of the cake? 5 stars.
Sa mau order dari dia ni. hehe..
bah.. till then..

btw.. my dear blogger friends.. if you happen to know a place/a campsite that can accommodate 200 students, with the backdrop of a river, big enough for rafting thingy..and lots of bamboo nearby..
do inform me ya.. hehe. around and outskirts of KK area.
nanti kita p jalan2 sana

O Christmas Tree

All over the city, shopping complexes are painted with red, green and golden themed ornaments and decor.
It's Christmas!!
Having read Chegu Carol and few other bloggers on their Christmas preparation makes me wonder if i should put up a Christmas tree at home.
Anyway..if i really decided to put up one.. i hope its going to be something like..
THiS:
nyehehehehe..nda la ba giant sangat mcm ni. mana la muat rumah ku yg kici.
but the idea of decorating a Christmas tree with teddy bears???
o wow..its my first time seeing this.
Cantik kn.
ok ok..hehe..where can you find this Christmas tree?
It's standing perfectly at the Karamunsing shopping complex.
Lama da tak jalan2 di sana..sekali masuk ..
i was really2 amazed.
This is truly unique.
O yes. And you can walk underneath the tree as well.
Look at that.
The Christmas tree is actually combined with a few nicely decorated stalls ..so the tree is like a gigantic roof top. Simply woW.
hmm..i think i know what i need now.
(^_^)
nc says: sebenar nya.. persediaan utk hari Christmas yg sebenar adalah terletak dlm hati kita. itu yg paling penting kn. Christmas adalah peringatan utk kita ttg Kasih dan mengapa kita di lahir kn. (eseh...be khutbah laini..)
Tapi.. kalau ada hiasan2 sampingan.. tambah meriah.. hehe.. aramai tiiiiii (^_^)

A Foxie Boutique

It's the grand opening of a good friend's boutique today.
Located at the ground floor of the Star City Complex, one can never missed it, as the boutique is painted in red with an eye catching fox in the boutique's sign board.

I have to salute and congratulate these foxy ladies for materializing their dream of having their own business.
I hope i can follow their foot steps in the future.
*finger finger crossing*
The boutique sells ladies attires and accesories. Cute and cheeky.
Just like the taukehs. heheh..
Price wise..competitive.
Highly recommended.
Me with the foxy ladies of the boutique.
I was not able to take much pictures that moment.
I ran out of battery charges.
But pictures will never be enough for me to describe what Foxie Boutique has in store.
You need to be there.
Now i know where to get my dresses for wedding wedding and dinner dinner invitations this December.
*wink!

nc says: sambil2 tolong kawan2 promosi bah.. :)

The 3D Experience

O yess. I finally had the opportunity to watch a 3D movie.
It all happened last week when i brought my group of students to experience a 3D entertainment at 2.oo in the afternoon..and..ermm..as part of their subject research actually - to make it formal. Mana lagi mau cari lecturer yg sudi bawa student2 ny pgi tingu movie sama2..ha.. hehe..pastu makan sama2 n ambi2 gmbr lagi ( ^_^) - during class time of course.
The surrounding environment is full of things that are awaiting to be discovered.
Instead of just talking..DO iT.

Well,, here we go. There were not any major box office 3D movies showing  this particular period. So we're left with this environment friendly movie - Sammy's Adventure. The students were a bit reluctant when knowing they're going to watch an animated movie. But then, there must a good reason why this movie was in 3D. So..we begin our little afternoon adventure, going for Sammy's Adventure.
WeeeeeeeeeEEEE.... :)

It all turn out not GooD..but GREAT!!
Being in the premiere 3D movie hall in Suria Shopping Mall was already a major advantage, as not many people have really set foot in this place. Semua tatap dan berpencen di center point n 1 Borneo bah.

Everybody was looking great in their 3D glasses. ..Sa pun nda mau ketinggalan bah..
Hehe..proudly showing off the 3D glasses and ticket.
My first impression..there was nothing special about the 3D glasses,, except that it was a bit thick.
Movie time: wOWwwwwwww...
I forgot how many time i've WOWWWWW at the movie screen with the glasses on.
It was simply fantastic. To the eyes, to the surrounding..and like everyone said..it's as if it's right in front of your face. No doubt now.
What happen when you take off the glasses and try to watch it like a normal movie..?
You can't.
There will be 3 blurry image of each object in the movie. Perhaps that's the 3 dimension..right?
So..glasses on.
Relax..and enjoy the beautiful beautiful underwater panorama in Sammy's Adventure.
Now i understand why it's in 3D.
You would feel like swimming with Sammy.
Who's Sammy? You've got to watched it to appreciate it.
3D
Spot the lecturer.

Well..being an educator has a lot of advantages.
No matter how old you feel.. you'll always be young at heart, because you're surrounded by the young ones. No matter how old a student they are.. you'll always be the wiser one, because you have the wisdom.

nc says:
Okay..the trailer and sypnosis..
"Sammy, a sea turtle, hatches on a deserted beach and tries to climb out of the hole where he hatched. Being caught by a seagull, he struggles for his life and manages to escape, as the seagull clashes in the air with a another seagull, also carrying its prey, who turns out to be a female hatchling sea turtle, Shelly."..and pretty much.. its where a love story and adventure of a lifetime begins.
Yes!! I am soo inspired by the Green Connection and will be volunteering there soon!

The Green Connection, located at Mile 2 Jalan Tuaran (near Wisma Wanita) is actually an Aquarium and Science Discovery Centre that offers a lot of educational programme and expose the community to the importance of conservation of the marine life.
whoa..was that heavy? hehe..
It's a place where we can learn, touch, see and understand about the awesome marine life that we have here..in Sabah. Entrance is rm15 per person.  I went there with my students, so urm..its ehEm..complimentary - as usual.
If only i have the guts to dive..i'll be feeding off fishes and sting rays..instead of cats and dogs..haha
The picture above is the main attraction of the site: a big aquarium that has a variety of marine life - including 3 beautiful sharks and a very big turtle. biG. (i'm just amazed bah)
hmm..perhaps i could volunteer in the future on presenting the infos to the visitors. *gulp* kunun..
Need to get close, up and personal first with a lot of text book before doing this.hehe
One of the three beautiful sharks. It's very hard for me to get a picture of them with my super slow camera.
But their movement and grandeur never fail my eyes.
Some of the display at the Green Connection where visitors can touch and see first hand the wonderful sea creatures. Not me though..especially on the horseshoe crab@ belangkas. Would you?
Ah...these fellas were also amazing. These are found in our Kinabatangan river. Tapi sa pun tak pasti ikan apa..very big..and with a small hump on its head. Berabis mau ambil gmbr dorang. You can see my reflection in the tank.hahah..
Do you know that the sharks we have today are the evolution and transformation from the one we had thousand of years ago? Aha! there iS one very unique shark in the Green Connection big tank that everybody has to see to believe. Almost like a hammerhead shark. But with a triangular feature. Anybody..?raise ur hand please if u have seen that kind of shark. I was not able to take a  picture of it as it was always moving around during the fish feeding show.
Well..no pictures, no real shark?
Get one of those cute stuff marine life with you.
You will never find any of the stuff animals in their gift shop, any where.
And...some of the great happenings during the tour. Ain't that a beautiful sting ray?
I am inspired. And i want to be part of the great team of the Green Connection.
It's the animal instinct in me speaking, i guess.
You can help too by being a volunteer and spread the importance of marine life conservation.

nc says: Fact of the day: Love eating garoupa? Do you know that babies garoupa are all born male and some will turn into female when they hit maturity. Most of the giant garoupa are males, the one that we love to catch n eat. So that makes the female garoupa having no males to make babies with. They could live up to 67 years old.
so..no babies garoupa = less garoupa = no garoupa.
Garoupa: ikan kerapu bah...

Mari Mandi Sungai

I've done so much during the recent school holidays and will be blogging one story at a time about it hehe..
One week of unpaid leave was worth it - for a quality time spending with my beloved ones.. and also taking time to decor decor our new home..hehe..nda pandai siap2 ni...the excitement come and go..hmm..will only blog about it..perhaps later in life - haha..kidding.
Money can't buy Time. But i'm willling to bargain..hehe

Right..the best part of balik kampung mentua that i like will have to be mandi sungai.
who doesn't?
err..(^_^)

Mi hubbi refused to take me to a public swimming pool everytime,
"bagus lagi mandi sungai," dia bilang.
ok bah bos..
so..to the little sungai we went..back at his home, and down hill..down..down hill. Where u need to go up up hill first before reaching the kampung.
And this time.. he brought me to a new trail. Funny how everytime we go mandi sungai.. ada sja jalan baru dia kasi tunjuk ni.. and THiS time..across the green paddy field.
Amazing.
As i have never walked or touched a sawah (paddy field) before. seriously.
Kesian kn..
A little cousin tag along  to "andi ungai.."- dia bilang.
The river is just in front of the paddy field.
Beautiful..isn't it.
I was left behind as i was busy taking pictures (with my Nokia only).
The best part was jumping from one level of sawah to another..i felt like i was in one of the Jackie Chan movie that has paddy field in one of the scene. Hehe..don't remember the title though..

And the river view from just nearby our home.
Once you hear the rushing water.. you feel like you want to dip in ASAP.
Notice the water level? It's soo little now actually compared to the yesteryears..according to my family. Perhaps its the drought that caused it. But i sheepishly felt thankful.. as the water level is just nice to have a cool dip and never has the risk of drowning? hehe..especially for young kids.

And..we're there.
What a peaceful sight.
It's one of the hidden jewel of this small kampung.
A treasured spa and relaxation avenue only for the exclusive..haha..
There are a lot of spots along the river where u can have a nice dip and forget about everything.

And this time..it is HERE.

nc says: will be coming back for more.

Out To SaLuT

I lost a bet with mi other half the last World Cup.
Yep, you guessed right.
A meal for two at Salut.
(and it's only the recent school holiday that we had the chance to go there.isk isk isk..)

..nasib bukan di Africa.
But, it's okay..i Love SaLut!
The seafood restaurant, of course.
If you want any more fresher seafood than this.. you have to catch them yourself.
hehe..
By the way, this post is also dedicated to my good friend Ervina, who wishes to belanja me there in the future? hehehe..

Bah.let's see some stuff here.
The surrounding and the inside of the restaurant. Peaceful..kalau time lunch..nda ramai org. Try going there at nite..bulih tahan.., not forgetting the mosquitoes bite as well.
What do you expect from a floating restaurant in a mangrove area?

I can never get enough of the beautiful boardwalk that reminds me of my growing up years in kampung Tanjung Aru before. Take a walk here..while waiting for your food. Relaxing..very serene view. I love the smell of the salty mist of the water. Everything just brings me back to my childhood.

And...the order of the day..
Kailan with mushroom and oyster sauce
Sweet n sour prawn
Steamed garoupa
Sup sayur masin n tomato n ikan
nyehehe..that's for the two of us eating.
Nda pa, kasi kanyang bos dlu.
Drinks of the day..
Air bandung n dragon fruit juice.
Nice colour kn? pink2 ni..

30 minutes and a few burps later.

And we had this all under the price of rm100.
Just nice for a seafood restaurant.
By the way.. where is SaLuT?
It's in Jalan Sulaman Tuaran..you can never miss it as there will be a BiG signboard of the restaurant on the road side.
Good Luck.

nc says: org cakap makan fresh seafood mahal. memang mahal juga la. but salut is just nice..the price and the taste. Come and you'll understand.
Where?
Where else? at our very own Lokawi Wildlife Park of course.

I've been to the park quite a few times..but have never EVER watched the Wild Borneo Animals Show. Have you? Then i'm sure you're amazed as me? hehe
One word that describe the Borneo wild animals : INTELLIGENT

Right, catch the show at 11.15 am or 3.30 pm everyday at the amphitheatre.
You might want to come early as the seats are always full.

Look at the crowd. I was with 80 students myself. There were also two groups of school-going children and a lot of foreign tourists. And THIS is during a WEEKDAY.
"O..ini biasa sja ni. Sikit sja ni" said the park staff. :)

I truly had fun. Watching the visitors having their rounds with the animals..entertaining.
One of my student LOSE in a game of ripping the coconut husk to Mowgli (a seven year old orang utan). Just look how happy one of the boys to hold the uLar SaWa and a tourist who got to be up, close and personal with a civet. Actually, sa pun mau p join bah, tpi, kasi chan yg muda2 dlu la..haha

One of my favourite is the parrot who raised the Malaysian flag. Gosh, aren't they intelligent?
But wait till you see the same parrot playing dead! Inda lagi mau bangun2 tu..sblm kena ketuk tu meja. The staff called the parrot to wake up but it only lifted its head up, kunun.

See the parrot? Playing dead after being 'shot' by the staff. So cute!

The first time i went to the park was during its soft opening in 2007. And a few more rounds in between. But the park has always something new to amaze people. Ruby the nocturnal tiger (forgive me, i dont really remember the name of the species, but she's the one near the birds cage at the entrance) is still there. I was happy yet sad at the same time. How would YOU feel living in captivity for the rest of your life? :( but on the bright side..they're well taken care of, and have a 'home'.
ANYWAY..sad stories aside.
The picture above shows a Binturong or a bearcat. kiut kn?
You will feel like hugging this one for sure. Besar tu..

Last but not least..hehe
A picture with a big reptile - not a favourite actually. I despise snake, especially ular sawa, since it makes me imagining how this harmless looking reptile is swallowing my helpless cats!! - everytime i see one. But then, just for the record. SNAP!
A picture of me, ular sawa, and an ex student of mine. Nice!

Entah, bleh kah nda this video. My first time uploading a video via blogspot.
It's the one where the parrot plays dead. Enjoy!

nc says: misti mau bawa satu family pgi tgk animal show next time. happiness gerenti. apalagi time tu burung terbang2 atas kepala..huhu..

Harassed

Harassed?
hahaha..yep.
Not me. My hubbi.
Not by me.
Or any other ladies or gents

But by this fella below:

Hahaha..
Not a serious case of harassment of course.
It's just that, it was sure a funny moment to see the orang utan (female, i guess) touched his shoulder SUDDENLY, and really caught us in surprise.

We were still quite near at the entrance with other guests watching the orang utan nearby, when it suddenly happened.
Luckily there was a tour guidewho asked my hubby to jangan layan the orang utan.
If not..lumpat minta dukung sda kali tu. hahaha

And guess what?
Time mau balik sda smua orang.. tiba tiba ada satu ikur muncul sana atap dekat tempat kami duduk2 rehat (just opposite the Exhibition and Information Centre building).
Hehe..kiut juga bah si urang utan, but i dont feel like hugging or dukung one at all hehe
Ko mau kah?
But i guess the orang utan was not looking for me.
Hahaha

Because right after we got out from the Exhibition/Information Centre..the orang utan was still there..pindah sda dia.
Makin dakat kami ni.
And now.. there were 2 of them.
There were only a few orang putih tourist around that time,
and mi hubbi and i were the last two to exit the building.
Hehehehe..

Perhaps it's a normal incident for orang utan to get their rounds in the parks?
even in the building? ..ntah la..
But i was very happy to FINALLY get a chance to visit this place, last week.

nc says: when i told hubbi i was going to blog about it, he gave that LoOk.
ahaha..TeasinG is OuR middle name.
