I have been postponing..purposely delaying to write an entry on this one.

..

It's the big C.

My Cesarean story.

It's the birth story of baby Neve.

It's not something that i am proud of to choose, to do..

The way of welcoming the babe of course. Don't get me wrong.

. . . .

A lot of friends have been asking..
Was it a natural birth or not.
It was not.

I chose LSCS.

Baby Neve was born via an elective Lower Segment Cesarean Section.

A choice by me.

I am never good at pain management and the many birth stories i have heard from families and people alike gave me a faint heart.
A low hemoglobin count (red blood cells) in my system was also not helping to be strong.
I fear dying in pain and in loss of too much blood..or being continuously injected with  blood blood blood from others, so i can live.

And so..the decision.
Hubbi was being understanding and supported me all the way.

A few close friends who have also gone through the same situation ( choosing surgery over natural birth), gave me encouraging words and brief me how it would all be.

The date was chosen.
5th of August 2011.
12.00 pm.

Upon arriving at the hospital..we registered..given a room..and a hospital gown for me to change.
Awkward. Couldn't believe the day has finally came.

The baby's heart was monitored.
When the clock strike almost 12.00 pm..i was brought to the operation theatre.
I kept calm.
Hubbi was beside me.

Needles..all sorts of needles came in contact with my flesh.
I hate needles.

Then it was time for the 'spinal' injection.
It was really h*ll for me.
I almost gave up..wanting to stand up and just tell everyone there..OK..tHat's it. Nda Payahla jarum2!


What is a spinal injection?
It's the one injection that will numb you from waist below..for surgery to take place.
You are forced to bent like a foetus so it will be easier to inject you along the spinal cord.
Believe me. You would never want to be in the situation.
The room was cold.
Your bare back is exposed to the freezing temperature, lying like a foetus on my left side.
I was literally curled..for about 10 cold cold minutes.

The whole team of doctors and nurses were being very kind though.
Hubbi was not there when they did the spinal injection on me.
I would not want him to see me that way, anyway.
I'm sure you agree if you've gone through the same thing.

I could remember the faces of all the doctors clearly.
As soon as i couldn't feel my legs..i felt though, a sensation of being 'moved' and 'swayed' below my waist.
Has it started?
The doctor looked at me with her surgery mask already on. I knew she has started 'ripping' my body off.

How did it all feel?
..like someone was pulling and pushing something out or inside your stomach of course.
The sharpest and strongest tugging and pulling sensation was felt suddenly. Then i heard a loud cry. It was the babe.
'Keluar sda'..a doctor said.
It was all less than 5 minutes.

Another doctor came over and put the baby near my face.
I almost cried..but couldn't.
I was too worried of what was happening beyond the 'curtain'.
Hubbi smiled.

The stitching job was done almost half an hour.
I knew it was more complicated to stitch back everything together than ripping it open.

. . . . . .
 The pain.
..was not felt when you're still under pain killers.
Waking up the next day was the hardest part of all.
I have been preparing for THAT moment since i made the decision for a cesarean surgery.
Hubbi became my pillar of strength.
I made it.

When my friends asked..how did it feel?The pain after a c section?
With or without pain killers..i would say..it felt as though ur still being cut alive. Sharp.
But with the right support, prayer, will and determination..you can push through it.

Day 5.
I woke up from bed without the help of anyone.

Day 6.
I did not take anymore pain killers.

Day 7.
Hey, it's baby Neve 1 week old. Nothing else matters.

That was a brief chapter of my life.
The coming of baby Neve.
Though many people discourage and shun surgery for birth (unless there is a medical need), i am proud to say that i am not ashamed for choosing it.
Because..the most important is still the babe to be born safe and sound.

Baby Neve is 2 weeks and 4 days old today.
Next week full moon sda. :)
huhu...my cry baby.

How do you compare bad service, good service and a great service?

Well,

I have forgotten to fully confirmed and 'check out' from my online shopping cart the other day at the OneBabyWorld website..AND have made direct payment to the account.

A bad service company would have just stayed silent and 'telan' all my money paid.

I received a personalised email a few hours later asking me what are the stuff i have ordered and whether i have checked out fully from my shopping cart.

They have received my payment.

But did not received my order.

(hehe..telampau excited be shopping2 smpai lupa confirme order n check out bah)

And so i re confirmed my order and clicked the 'checked out' button on the website again.

Order received.

Payment already made.

Thank goodness.

Later that afternoon i received an sms from the representative of the company, saying that one of the stuff i have bought was suddenly out of stock and asked me if i could wait until tomorrow?

No rush. Why not. Since they have informed me.

Nevertheless i received a phone call from the company the next morning..apologizing for the lateness of delivery and informing me the stuff i wanted was really not in yet. BUT, it will be replaced with the another set that they will carefully choose for me. hmmm...

What was it actually?

This.

Just this morning.

A set of 4 baby rompers and 6 pair of socks worth RM36.90.

Nice.

And i am one happy customer..though it's not the set of colours that i have initially chosen.

Another blog post on the journey of becoming mommy?

:) Since i have quite a lot of free time NOW.

why not.

The first thought that came into my mind upon knowing that i am pregnant...was these:

A reason to buy all these exciting, colourful mommies magazines and books.

It is one of the great ways to educate one self for a first timer right?

I found myself enjoyed reading every article and digging into so many new things..that i thought i would never have to learn..or know.

I love reading.

Funny how the types of magazines/material u read will  change as your life style changes :)

I still remember getting my self all those wedding magazines before our biG day.

Now all those magazines are in the good hands of my upcoming bride-to-be friends.

It's for them to keep.

But not these..for sure.

You get married once.

But once you become a mommy..it will be forever.

aiseh..betul la kn.

So these are for keep..and will see to it that it will become a collection that i can be proud of.

What magazines are best to read for a mommy? 

Parentshood is great.

Motherhood  is not bad.

But the best..i would still recommend..Pa & Ma....or Mami & Baby

a Malaysian publishing.

Full of great articles..AND info on where and what to shop!! baby n mummies stuff.

I like.

Careful though..

cos there might be repeated or similar articles in the same month on different magazines!!

That's why i don't subscribe.

hehe..sudah pernah kena ba..

..i started the dream journal a few months ago in this blog.

as a record to all the bad dreams i had during my pregnancy period.

i thought i will only be writing it once.

not until last nite..when i had the worst nightmare. in my life. ever.

Right..some updates..hehe

My belly is bigger than a ripe watermelon now..

and everytime a motherly person (yg mama2 bah..) saw me..they would comment.:

"tggu hari lagi ni kn.."

and i'll go..

*senyum dlu la* " mm..nda juga la,, ada dlm 4 minggu lagi"

And they continue:

"tpi..perut kau pgi bawah sda. kdg2 tidak smpai juga 40 minggu tu tau.."

Me: *gulp* + *sinyum2*

 and there was this friendly lady i remembered asking me to eat a lot of planta/majerin

supaya time deliver nanti.. lancarrrrrr :)

and so..with friends recommendation and advices.. i have started packing

tpi..yg penting happy dlu skg..:)

tukkoiii..mau jalan dari Harris bookstore pgi Daiso pun macm mau patah sda tulang kaki sa.

hehe..gara2 mau kasi lengkap itu barang2 baby n me :)

" My God..that's me. Really looked like me while sleeping. "

By the way..the picture was when babe was 31 week old.

Now..babe in the tummy at 8 months..is something like this..

basar nya...kah. memang la ba.

Sharing with you another info about nc..is that..i'm thalassemia carrier. 

I've heard about the illness before..but never really care to know about it, until i know i'm a carrier my self.

What is it?

You lack red blood cells in your system.

And you know how important the red blood cells are to your body, especially when there's a little one sharing with you the oxygen that the cells are carrying throughout you.

Google it more..you will understand :)

So , i'm trying my best now, to gather tips and advice from  mommies  alike who have been in the situation.

What's best to do..after delivery..and a lot more.

Dear blog...n blogger friends..

..will not be updating much and might be on a long silence for this moment.

Will never be gone for good though..just a peaceful rest and a more soothing evedy day life without worrying what to post next in this blog.  If you're wondering what's up and about in nc's department now..well..nothing much :) just..

a growing tummy that i guess is still keep on putting weight.. My current weight is about 62kg..normally its around 45kg :) hope to lose slowly the extra weight once i continue blogging again :) 

i'm coming to week 33 in the pregnancy calendar now.. hmm..getting heavier and heavier. When people ask me the 'inda berat ka ko rasa.' question these days..mcm sa mau tumbuk dorang. Nanti la ko try sendiri..boring ba the same question and ur actually struggling to breathe. 

i'm a thalassemia carrier. Thus the natural low iron and red blood cells count in the system, making it harder to get enough oxygen and is having a faster heart beat rate. 

I'm still working..now. A bit harder to lecture now..SEMPUT. Will be starting my maternity leave the end of July. God bless. 

I enjoy blog hopping..to ur blog..dropping by wishes and comments if possible. But nowadays.. mau buka laptop sja pun.. malas betul. Except when i'm at the office.hehe.. 

All baby stuff and mommy stuff are ready. But is still looking for more tips on the berpantang time..gosh..i can't imagine living without ice water. 

mmbah...itu sja la.. Hope i'll be fine :)

Not complaining though..just a thought on this little journey i'm on now.

As much as i love being pregnant..i really missed being light with no hassle of having my rounds at 1 Borneo..or even my college premise. hmm..kaki da la bengkak skg..jari jemari ku pun sakit ni..

baru 26 weeks..but..people say mcm sa mau beranak sda, bila tgk perut sa. atukkoi...

is it really that big?

hehe..nanti kita tau sama2..ada special project ni.

hmm..bnyk pla projek2 spesial kunun dtg di kepala sa time2 gini..smpai balik2 kena suruh rilek, jn buat o fikir itu ini. but what to do.. all insiprations (kunun) dtg time ini..maybe its the baby :)

selagi sa mampu n mau buat..sa akan buat.

tapi,, setakat ni pun,, bnyk sda projek tergendala sb inda kena suruh buat oleh bos di rumah. hmmm.

Thank God i have my students at the college.

Events and happenings keep me on my toes..cewah..

but there are times..sa lebih suka dudukkkkkkkk sja..smua pun malas mau buat.

And today.. its..about the various way people use to tell whether you're going to have a baby boy or girl.

1. A woman’s dietary preferences prior to conception will influence a baby’s gender. A diet rich in dairy and magnesium will result in the birth of a girl while a diet rich in red meat and salt will result in the birth of a boy.

(slu nya org bagi tau sa, kalau suka makan manis2. baby girl. kalau suka asam2..boy. hmm..tpi..ada kawan yg suka makan asam2..her baby? GiRL.)

2. Take your wedding ring off and dangle it directly over your baby bump by a piece of your husbands hair and if the ring swings back and forth you are having a boy! If it swings in a circle you are having a girl!

3. Got morning sickness? If you morning sickness is more like morning, noon and night sickness then you are having a girl.

4.  Got acne? You are having a girl

5.Craving chocolate and sweets galore – having a girl.

(i have a sweet tooth now..but im starting to crave for mangga at the same time)

6. Craving sour foods like lemons, limes and citrus fruits – then congratulations you are having a boy.

7.If you are pregnant with your second child then your first child’s first word will determine the gender of your unborn child. If he/she said “mama” as his/her first word then you are pregnant with a girl. If he/she said “dada” first then you are pregnant with a boy.

8. Take your age at conception and the year that you conceived. If both numbers are even or if both numbers are odd you are having a girl. If one number is even and one number is odd you are having a boy. This is ancient Mayan folklore

I have done my ultra sound scan last weekend.
And i just knew it.
Girl or boy..it's not the most important issue.
As long as baby is healthy , that is more than enough.

Feeling heavy though..and i'm swollen..every now and then.

Any tips to reduce the swollen - ness? feet and hands? 

hmm..it's not comforting when people say my feet is 'kiutttt' when its swollen. atukkkoi..

But generally..i feel great.

Its week 21 now. 5 months and counting.

People will always looked surprise to know that its just 5ive months when they see my belly.

They'll go.. 'besar o'.

mm..important things is we're both healthy. Fingers crossed.

With God's willing. I know it's going to be okay.

dui..jahat nya.. mmm..nda bah.. cuma kadg2..balik2 kena tny soalan yg sama dlm satu jangka masa yg terdekat..inda ko gerigitan? tpi.. sabar sja bah kn :)

..and i'm sure all pregnant mothers experience the same thing.

nc answers: mau lima sda..( dibundar kn..ke bulan yg terdekat heheh)

Favourite question: Lelaki kah perempuan?

nc answers: nda tau lagi ni.. (betul2 blm tau..n i don't mind )

Followed by: Belum scan kah?

nc answers: sda, bnyk kali sda..tpi blm dpt tingu lagi.

Next: Rasa sda kah dia tendang?

nc answers: mm..sia pun kurang pasti mcm mn bah rasa pergerakan ni..tpi mcm blm kali ni..sb tabal lamak di perut kn..:) lagi pun doktor ckp..dlm minggu 20 slu nya.. (tggu dgn yakin sja la kn)

Dreaded question: Mana ko mau baranak?

nc answers: di hospital la ba kn. mana2 yg terbaik la kn :) 

Another favourite question: Apa yg ko slu mengidam n suka buat skg?

nc answers: tiada juga la, sa suka minum soya bean sja la, sb itu ja minuman yg ngam. kalu suka buat.. tingu tv la kali..esp 'So You Think You Can Dance' sama main Happy Aquarium di fesbuk.. sama main sama kucing2 n anak anjing di rumah. (cewah.. bnyk pula rupanya)

And most will asked me this: Anak pertama?

nc answers: hehe..iya :)

A cousin asked me this- this morning: kanapa basar/bangkak purut ko?

nc answer: senyum2 ja (malas mo jawab..n sa tau juga dia main2 ja)

Finally: nda berat kah perut ko..ko rasa skg? (especially from single ladies)

nc answers: mm..bulih tahan juga la  :)

heheheh..so that's it.

The questions that are frequently asked now. 

Sometimes i got tired answering..sometimes excited..because the answers changes..as weeks go by.
